The aim of this course is to provide first-year students with a clear understanding of both traditional and modern methods of teaching English, the principles and objectives of language instruction, the psychological characteristics of learners of different age groups, as well as the ways of encouraging students to learn and maintaining their level of motivation. Building on the acquired theoretical knowledge, this course develops students’ creative thinking, which will assist them in solving various methodological and pedagogical tasks that arise during the preparation of course papers. The specificity of the course lies in its focus on presenting the theoretical foundations of English language teaching methodology and familiarising future professionals with practical approaches to the application of modern methods and technologies in foreign language teaching at school.
