The Cultures of Remembrance in Chernivtsi and Münster from a historical, art historical and ecclesiastical perspective

The joint course of the University of Münster and Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University "The Cultures of Remembrance in Chernivtsi and Münster from a historical, art historical and ecclesiastical perspective".

The course's appeal lies in comparing buildings of similar genres in Münster and Chernivtsi, in elaborating on the respective cultural peculiarities, and in working in tandem to gain deeper insights into the other culture. At the end of the course, a small exhibition is planned to be held in Chernivtsi and Münster.

Students of the course can apply to participate in the DAAD-funded German-Ukrainian summer school "Memory Cultures Using the Example of Bukovina", which, in conjunction with free board and lodging, will take place at Landhaus Rothenberg from September 8-12, 2025, and in the presence of students from Chernivtsi in Münster until September 16. However, the course takes place independently of the summer school.
Academic achievement: weekly reading; independent research in German-Ukrainian tandem; presentation.
