The aim of the course is to equip students with knowledge about the phonetic subsystem of the English language, its segmental and suprasegmental components; to lay the theoretical foundations of the discipline; to acquaint students with the traditional and modern scientific approach in the field of theoretical phonetics and phono-stylistics, as well as with the means of formation of speech sounds, their acoustic and physiological properties; to develop students' theoretical and hypothetical thinking; to form practical language acquisition skills.
