This course is an introduction to the principles of English syntax as a branch of grammar, its basic concepts and their underlying theories. It teaches students to interpret the structure of sentences and their component parts providing both systematic guidance and practice of systematic analysis. On successful completion of the course students’ comprehension of the structure and classification of phrases, clauses and sentences and the functional relationship between their parts will be improved.
